Fusion Compound Version 2 Manual

The new version of Fusion Compound collaboration software is now available and adds some features that truly sets it apart from any other service of it's kind. Here is a brief explanation of the new features and some documentation on how to use the new software.

What's new?

- Upload Progress Meter: This is the most demanded feature on web uploaders across the world and we are one of the first to deliver it. By using an easy to use Java applet, you can now see the progress of your uploads and no longer have to wonder: "is it still sending?... that thing has been spinning for a long time now."

- Multiple File Upload: You can now upload multiple files at the same time by dragging a group of files onto the upload window or selecting multiple files using shift, command, or control like you would in any File Open dialog box. Now line up a group of files to upload and walk away!

- Multiple Admin Users: No more switching between logins or multiple people sharing the same login. Multiple admin users can be set, and these users have the power to view all users files, create new users, delete users, and change any users passwords, all from the same login they normally use.

- File and Folder Renaming: (Currently does not work in Safari) You can now easily rename files and folders right from the web based interface. No need to re-upload if you forget to rename the file, and you can now make your filenames clearer to your customers quickly and easily. Renaming a root users folder as an administrative user will change a users login username.

- Folder Download: Now by pressing the &*($# button, you can download the entire contents of a folder into a single ZIP file. This makes downloading a large group of files easily and into a single file that can be expanded at a later time. Note that there can be a considerable delay as the server compresses this file. For fastest results, use the uncompressed TARBALL format.

Java is REQUIRED to use the Fusion Compound 2 uploader!

Java 1.4 is required to use the Java uploader. For Mac users, this is included with all modern versions of Mac OS X (10.3 and 10.4) and is available for OS 9. WIndows users must download Java if it they have not already. Microsoft does not include Java in Windows XP or 2000. To check if you have the latest version of Java and to download it, visit www.java.com

*The old uploader is still available to users who cannot install Java on their computers or if you are having issues with the uploader. Please contact your system administrator if you have any issues with Java or cannot obtain it.

For the best experience use:

Macintosh: Mac OS X 10.3 Panther or 10.4 Tiger with the Included Safari browser. Make sure you run software update to get the latest version of the operating system, browser and version of Java. Firefox on Panther and Tiger should work, but they require a Java plugin. Use at your own risk.

Windows: Windows XP or 2000 using Firefox or Mozilla. Though Netscape and Internet Explorer do work most of the time, there are quirks when using Internet Explorer due to Microsoft's ignorance of web standards and bad Java compatibility.

Possible Issues:

File/Folder rename does not work in Safari. Apple has not finished full Javascript support. It works in Firefox on the Macintosh, but you need the Java plugin. So if the feature is important to you, you may need to get the plugin. (NOTE: Java and Javascript are completely not related to each other)

- Sometimes the file listing will not automatically refresh after some actions. This is usually with Internet Explorer. Simply pressing your browsers Reload button will refresh the page and show the updated contents of the folder.
